FIFTEENTH NATIONAL CONGRESS ON CORROISON AND ITS CONTROL
National Corrosion Council of India (NCCI), a forum for effective
dissemination of knowledge on corrosion and its control, is functioning
at the premises of CECRI since 1990. NCCI organizes National Congress
on Corrosion Control periodically, covering all aspects of Corrosion
Science and Engineering, at important places, for enlightening and
increasing the awareness about corrosion of metals and appropriate
remedial measures to control it. There has been overwhelming response
from various sectors for the earlier Fourteen congresses held at
Karaikudi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkatta, Hyderabad,
Kochi, Goa, Madurai, Vadodara, Visakhapatnam and Mangalore. NCCI has
also organized an International Congress on “Emerging Corrosion Control
Strategies for the new millennium” at New Delhi, during February 20-22,
2002.
The Fifteenth National Congress on Corrosion & its Control is
being organized at Chennai, Tamilnadu during 16-18 September
2010.

Indian Maritime University
Indian
Maritime University (IMU), or also known as Central University, is located in Chennai. It was established in 2008 under the
Indian Maritime University Act 2008. Besides the one campus in Chennai,
there are three more in Calcutta, Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam. The
university has been granted ISO 9001:2000 Certification and grade 1
rating from ICRA.
The Indian
Maritime University will be managing the following eight academic
departments when all infrastructures are done: Department of Port
Management, Department of Nautical Science, Department of Marine
Engineering, Department of Transport & Logistics, Department of Marine
Sciences, Department of Maritime Law, Department of Naval Architecture &
Ship Building, and the Department of Inland Water Transport. At present,
there are three operating departments:
